Physics Teaching Resource Agents

AAPT/PTRA Logo

The AAPT/PTRA program seeks to provide sustained professional development to teachers of physics and physical science by maintaining a nationwide cadre of over 100 accomplished high school teacher-leaders trained and updated yearly to conduct extensive series of workshops in their local regions throughout the U.S. These teacher-leaders are certified as PTRAs by AAPT.

Kinematics
Basic principles of motion are defined through a variety of activities appropriate for students in all physics and physical science courses. A suggested sequence is outlined in the introduction.

Impulse and Momentum
The dynamics of objects are explored using momentum and impulse. Common phenomena and events are used to introduce students to the concepts involved. Laboratory activities, demonstrations, assignments, and other resources that can be used in class are then presented.

The Physics Front has joined forces with the PTRA to offer new teachers (and experienced vets!) a chance to participate in a tailored mentoring program.

Experienced Teacher?
We need you as a mentor! With so many novice physics teachers needing assistance, you have a lot to share. Please click here to receive more information about becoming a mentor!

New Teacher?
Looking for help? We can put you in touch with experienced local physics teachers who have the advice and help that you need. They have "been there" as a new teacher and know how you feel. Check out the 'Mentoring' section of the discussion forums, to help with your questions, answers, comments and much more.
