This page is a multimedia tutorial on magnetic force, appropriate for an introductory algebra-based physics course. Students will explore forces on moving charges in magnetic fields, practice using the Right Hand Rule, and solve simple problems to find the magnitude of the force. Materials are formatted in Adobe Flash, with short video clips, animations, and interactive question-and-answer sets. This segment is part of a full module on magnetism, developed by the HippoCampus project, part of the Open Education Resources effort (OER).
EDITOR'S NOTE: Of particular interest to physics teachers and learners is that each module is specifically correlated to more than a dozen widely-used physics textbooks. Click on the "Textbook" tab to use this tool. These materials could be very useful for students with certain learning disabilities. The modules are designed to spark student interest through visual appeal and are accompanied by voice narration. Please note that this resource requires Flash.
