This is an interactive homework problem on the topic of ray optics. It presents this scenario: a distant object forms an image 2.8 meters in front of a slightly curved mirror. With only this information, students must determine the radius of curvature of the mirror.
The problem was developed by a physics education researcher to help students with concept formation and strategic problem solving skills. It is accompanied by a Socratic-dialog "help" sequence that guides users through a full conceptual analysis before attempting the mathematics. It is part of a larger collection developed by the Illinois PER Group.
