This interactive homework problem is designed to help students strategically approach a vector subtraction problem. It has multiple representations to aid understanding that subtracting vector B from vector A is equivalent to adding vector -B to A. Students can quickly see that Vector -B has the same magnitude as Vector B, but points in the opposite direction. Included is a sequence of questions designed to encourage critical thinking and conceptual analysis. This resource is part of a larger collection of interactive problems developed by the Illinois Physics Education Research Group.
