This is a simple Java applet enabling users to add two two-dimensional vectors. The user can choose the two vectors by clicking on a grid. The components, magnitude, and direction are immediately shown. Once the two vectors are chosen, a press of a button shows the vector sum, its components, its magnitude and its direction.
The simulation was designed deliberately so that there is no way to enter the components, magnitude, or direction of a vector manually: it must be done graphically by dragging the cursor. Thus, beginning students can develop a good feel for what all these quantities mean graphically.
