The NPL is the UK's national measurement institute, established in 1900 to develop and apply accurate measurement standards for science and technology. The NPL conducts international research, provides commercial services in calibration, and maintains a collection of publications and reference materials relating to standard measurement.
Educators will also find fact sheets on topics such as uncertainty in measurement, history of measurement, atomic timekeeping, and background information on basic and derived units. Teachers can freely download posters on mass, length, light, temperature, and more.
